The Opportunity:

Imagine yourself as an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) at WSP, a key player in expanding our infrastructure team based in our Vancouver, British Columbia office. You will be reporting directly to the Director of Electrical, SCADA & Facilities, and your role will be pivotal in assisting with designs for a variety of municipal infrastructure projects. What you can expect to do here:

  • You will be an integral part of the Water and Wastewater team's electrical, instrumentation and controls (EIC) engineering group, working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines. Your role will involve assisting senior engineers with proposal development tasks pertaining to electrical projects.
  • You will also assist in the preparation of analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, presentations, and reports as required. You will review contractor submittals and Operations and Maintenance manuals to ensure conformity to project specifications.
  • Under the supervision of a P.Eng., you will undertake field reviews of projects under construction. You will also participate in the development and implementation of commissioning plans.
  • Building effective networks and working relationships with the EIC Team, and other Engineering disciplines will be a key part of your role. Envision yourself making a significant impact in the field of water and wastewater infrastructure with us. We look forward to welcoming you to our team.


What you'll bring to WSP:

  • You hold an Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.
  • You have an Engineer in Training designation, or are eligible for registration with EGBC.
  • You are a new graduate, or have 1 - 4 years of professional experience as an engineer in EIC systems design, preferably of municipal water and wastewater facilities or similar type pump station and treatment facilities.
  • You have completed a university coop program, which is a great asset.
  • You are familiar with typical electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, PLC, communications, and P&IDs.
  • You have experience with industrial electrical projects, which would be a significant asset.
  • You have the ability to check your own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • You are able to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • You have exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and clients.
  • You have a "can do" attitude and are able to work in a team environment.
  • You show good initiative and attention to detail.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $ 53 900 - $ 91 700
