Job Description

6-month contract Data Engineer role focused on MLOps working with a global retail organization.

6-month contract role
Data Engineer focused specifically on MLOps and platform engineering
Global client located in downtown Vancouver, primarily on-site work

What & Why:
Our client is looking to add a Data Engineer role to join their Data Platform team, focused specifically on ML Ops and platform engineering. This team provides the foundational data infrastructure that enables teams across the enterprise to build data products and integrate ML and AI into their workflows, and this role sits at the core of that mission by designing, building, and operating the platforms that support the full ML model lifecycle. The core work involves establishing enterprise standards for ML infrastructure, automating and consolidating ML workflows across teams, administering Azure cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, and ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the ML platform. The role also carries mentorship responsibilities for junior engineers and requires strong incident management experience.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a primarily in office work environment with 4 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

4+ years building or supporting ML Ops pipelines using Azure data tools including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Functions, Spark, ADLS, Snowflake, and Fabric OneLake, with proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Spark SQL
3+ years of hands-on Azure cloud infrastructure administration, including network configuration, access management, and Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform
3+ years building ML and AI workflows utilizing Databricks, Unity Catalog, and MLflow, with the ability to design and implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for cloud infrastructure and applications
Proficiency with DevOps tooling including Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, and Airflow, alongside demonstrated experience managing production deployments, incident response, and customer escalations in a complex cloud environment

Compensation:
This role pays between $60-74 per hour.
