Job Description

6-month contract Cloud Platform Engineer role working with a global retail organization.

Global client located in downtown Vancouver, primarily on-site work

What & Why:
Our client is looking to add a Platform Engineer to their team for a 6-month contract to start. They will join a high performing cloud foundations team which serves as a core pillar of their technology strategy by providing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. The team builds the self-service platforms and guardrails that internal engineering teams rely on, and this role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security, and emerging AI/agent platform capabilities. In this role your core work involves building and operating landing zones, Terraform modules, and CI/CD pipelines, implementing policy-as-code guardrails, driving SRE and FinOps practices, and increasingly enabling AI and LLM agent integration patterns across the platform. The role participates in on-call rotations and requires a strong bias toward automation, security, and developer enablement.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a primarily in office work environment with 4 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

3 to 5 years in cloud or platform engineering or SRE, with hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems across AWS and/or Azure
Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, including designing reusable modules, alongside working knowledge of GitLab CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration
Coding proficiency in Python or Go with the ability to integrate with REST and JSON APIs, and familiarity with serverless patterns, event-driven architectures, and security fundamentals including secrets management and identity
Exposure to AI and LLM agent development concepts including prompting, function calling, and RAG, with familiarity in observability tooling such as Datadog and an interest in building reusable AI platform capabilities

Compensation:
This role pays between $60-70 per hour.
