The Faculty of Science & Technology is seeking a Coordinator for their Engineering Programs.

WHAT IT TAKES
Requirements for the role are:

    • A minimum of a Master's degree in one of Engineering, Physics, Computing Science, or an appropriate equivalent, from an accredited university
    • Teaching experience at the college or university level
    • Experience with curriculum development
    • Strong interpersonal skills with students, staff, faculty
    • Proven ability to problem solve day-to-day issues
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with faculty on Department wide issues
    • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, to work independently on projects and meet deadlines
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills


The primary functions of the Engineering Coordinator are to:

    • To coordinate all aspects of ENGR Certificate and Diploma administrative (admissions and graduating) requirements.
    • To coordinate transfer options and related articulation issues for the ENGR certificate and diploma.
    • To maintain and liaise with the ENGR Advisory Committee

The job duties and tasks include:

Administration:

    • Admissions: Provides advice on admissions to the ENGR Certificate and Diploma programs to Enrolment Services as needed; sets intake limits in consultation with the Dean.
    • Manages articulation related to ENGR courses.
    • Works with the MATH , PHYS , CHEM , and CMPT Department Chairs to schedule ENGR courses.
    • Consults with the Dean and Facilities about lab equipment requirements and specifications.
    • Submits capital budget requests as part of the Operating Capital cycle to support program and course offerings.
    • Ensures effective communication and liaison with the Dean and other College administrators, including submission of required reports on a timely basis.
    • Ensures effective communication and liaison with external transfer partners (i.e., university engineering programs).
    • Performs other related duties and/or special studies as required by the Dean.

Marketing/Promotion:

    • Ensures that calendar copy, web site, program brochures and all other advertising material are kept accurate and up to date.
    • Works with MCO to develop materials for promotion of the program.
    • Connects with appropriate members of the community to enhance and promote the program.
    • Ensures that faculty and staff at the College who engage in outreach activities (e.g., Future Students Office) are up-to-date on the programs and have materials to distribute at their outreach sessions as appropriate.
    • Attends College Info sessions to promote the programs, or arranges for other faculty or staff to attend the info sessions.
Program support:

    • Ensures curriculum guidelines for courses are current and changes proceed through the governance process.
    • Updates and makes revisions to the programs (including possible development of new courses) as needed to maintain currency and relevance.
    • Responds to student queries (phone/email) about the program requirements and benefits.

Student Support:

    • Responds to student queries about the programs and their requirements, and provides advice as required.
    • Deals with questions and concerns from students in the programs and refers students to the Dean where necessary.

Advisory Committee:

    • Organises a minimum of one annual meeting of the ENGR Advisory Committee (two meetings is recommended) to report on program status and initiatives and solicit advice for program maintenance and improvement.
    • Communicates updates to the advisory committee as needed throughout the year.
    • Recruits new members to the advisory committee as needed.

Additional Information
The Engineering program offers two credentials:
• The Engineering Foundations Certificate ( EFC ): A one-year university transfer program consisting of the twelve required first-year courses of an engineering degree.
• The Diploma in Engineering and Fabrication Technologies ( DEFT ): A two-year university transfer program designed to give students "hands-on" experience prior to transferring to an engineering degree program.

This limited-term faculty coordinator position will run from August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027, with possible extension to July 31, 2029. The position carries a 2-section time release for the 2026/2027 academic year.
