Job Description

Business Systems Specialist
Location: Remote - Canada Wide
Opportunity at Microserve

Position Summary

We are looking for a Business Systems Developer to join our Business Systems Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for customizing, optimizing, and extending our Dynamics 365 and Power Platform environments. You will build business applications, develop integrations, work with D365 customizations, and serve as the principal in-house technical builder for our business systems portfolio.

This is a hands-on development role in a lean, high-impact team. You will work across D365 Finance & Operations, D365 Sales, and the Power Platform. Your focus is on building, extending, and improving the solutions that drive our business, working alongside external implementation and platform partners but representing Microserve’s technical interests as our internal authority on the customization and solution layer.

What You Will Do

D365 Customization & Optimization: Develop and modify customizations within D365 Finance & Operations and D365 Sales/CE. Work with X++ for targeted F&O modifications and Dataverse for CRM customizations. Optimize configurations, workflows, and data entities. Manage code promotion through Azure DevOps and LCS/PPAC deployment pipelines.

Power Platform Development: Design and build canvas apps, model-driven apps, and Power Automate flows to solve business problems. Develop governed, solution-aware applications within our Power Platform Center of Excellence framework. Provide ongoing support and enhancement for existing Power Platform solutions.

Custom Development & Integration: Build custom solutions using C#/.NET where low-code approaches are insufficient. Write SQL queries for data analysis, troubleshooting, and integration validation. Develop and maintain integrations between D365, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and third-party systems.

Vendor Technical Oversight: Represent Microserve’s technical interests in engagements with external D365 implementation and platform partners. Review partner work products, validate deployments, and ensure adherence to our governance standards.

Documentation & Knowledge Management: Maintain technical documentation for all customizations, integrations, and solutions. Create runbooks and deployment procedures. Contribute to our platform governance documentation framework.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (any flavor: F&O, CE/Sales, Business Central) in a development, customization, or functional-technical capacity.

  • Hands-on experience building Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven) and Power Automate flows in an enterprise environment.

  • Working proficiency in C#/.NET development, including experience with Visual Studio.

  • SQL proficiency: ability to write and optimize queries for data analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting support.

  • Experience with Dataverse and the Power Platform solution framework.

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD pipeline management.

  • Understanding of deployment processes for enterprise applications: code promotion, environment management, release coordination.

  • Strong documentation habits and a governance-oriented approach to solution development.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Experience with D365 Finance & Operations customization, including familiarity with X++ (read, understand, and make targeted modifications).

  • Experience with D365 Sales/CE configuration: entity design, business process flows, form customization, plugin registration.

  • Familiarity with the Data Management Framework (DMF/DIXF) and F&O data entities.

  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or Azure data services (Blob Storage, Azure Functions, Logic Apps).

  • Experience in a managed services provider, IT services, or professional services environment.

  • Microsoft certifications: PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant), PL-400 (Power Platform Developer), MB-300 (D365 Core F&O), or equivalent.

  • Experience working alongside external implementation partners or managed services providers.

What Sets You Apart

  • You are a builder. You are energized by translating a business problem into a working solution, whether that means a Power App, a custom API, or a targeted D365 customization.

  • You are comfortable working across platforms and technologies rather than being confined to a single stack. You see the connections between D365, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure as an advantage.

  • You understand that governed development (source control, solution-aware components, documented deployments) is how professional teams operate, not bureaucracy to work around.

  • You can hold your own with external partners. You ask the right questions, validate the work, and represent your organization’s interests with confidence and professionalism.

  • You can work effectively in a lean team where you are the principal in-house technical builder, with the maturity to escalate architectural decisions rather than freelancing them.
