Job Description

6-month contract Python Back End Engineer role with an enterprise organization investing majorly into technology.

6-month contract Python Back End Engineer role.
Global enterprise organization.
In-office work environment in Vancouver, 4 days a week in office.

What & Why: As a result of new projects our client is looking to add a contract back end engineer to their growing team. We are seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to join the team responsible for the development of in store technology solutions. In this role you will be supporting two core production systems: a Store Service API that surfaces store data across mobile and e-commerce, and a Node.js-based CMS platform that enables stores to send localized outreach emails; currently across North America with a UK expansion underway. The team is building toward enterprise-scale features and future channels including SMS and in-app messaging. This is a senior, hands-on backend role with end-to-end ownership across the full development lifecycle.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have an in-office work environment with 4 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

8+ years of backend development experience with strong Python and Node.js skills.
Experience with Flask, SQLAlchemy, SQLModel, and Poetry for Python service development.
Proficiency with AWS services including Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS, and multi-region deployments.
Security-conscious approach to development; solid testing practices (unit, integration, BDD-style).

Nice to have:

Experience with React for frontend contributions.
Familiarity with Contentful CMS APIs and webhook integrations.
Experience with LaunchDarkly or similar feature flag platforms.
Familiarity with Oracle/ELA or enterprise store databases.
Retail, e-commerce, or marketing technology domain experience.
Experience supporting peak and seasonal traffic events.
Familiarity with AI/ML feature integration (the team works with an AI-assisted content generation service).

Compensation:
This role pays between $75-93 per hour.
