Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the Lead Training Designer, the Training Content Developeris responsible fordesigning, building, testing, andmaintainingtraining materials that support compliance, safety, and operational readiness at HVC. This role focuses on online learning development, assessments, and instructorled training materials, working closely with the Lead Training Designer to ensure training content is consistent,high-quality, andauditready ledtraining materials, working closely with the Lead Training Designer to ensure training content is consistent,high quality, andaudit ready.

The Training Content Developer will have a strong emphasis on interactive eLearning, assessments, and learning management system administration rather than classroom facilitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and update training materials includingcomputer-basedtraining, on the job training materials, classroom presentation materials, and assessments.
  • Develop interactive online learning modules using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Easy Generator,Synthesia, or comparable platforms.
  • Create PowerPoint training materials to support instructor led and blended learning.
  • Develop supporting materials including instructor guides, student workbooks, handouts, and job aids.
  • Design andmaintainonline andpaper-basedexams, knowledge checks, and quizzes.
  • Develop and create structuredfield evaluations,using safety culture software.
  • Create course surveys and learner feedback tools.
  • Test training materials and assessments to ensure accuracy, functionality, and alignment with learningobjectives.
  • Review learner feedback and training results and update materials based on site needs and performance trends.
  • Upload, configure, test, andmaintaintraining content in the learning management system.
  • Apply version control, naming conventions, and documentation standards for all training materials.
  • Track content development progress and key performance indicators to meet service level expectations.
  • Ensure training materials meet quality, consistency, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Training Designer, subject matter experts, and trainers tovalidatecontent accuracy.
  • Identifyopportunities to improve learner engagement, accessibility, and overall training effectiveness.
  • Promote HVC core values, including safety leadership, continuous improvement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in training development.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in training content development, instructional design, or eLearning development.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing interactive online learning content.
  • Experience using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Easy Generator, Synthesia, or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing assessments and evaluation tools, including quizzes, exams, or competency checks.
  • Experience creating instructor-led and blended learning materials, including PowerPoint presentations, guides, and workbooks.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with a Learning Management System; SAP SuccessFactors preferred.
  • Experience testing and validating training materials prior to release to ensure accuracy and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail with experience applying version control and document management standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple content development tasks and meet defined timelines.
  • Experience reviewing learner feedback or training effectiveness data to support continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a mining, industrial, maintenance, or other safety-critical environment preferred.

Pay Range: CAD $93,000 - $115,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:
  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
