Job Description

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced site-based Contracts Manager to support major capital and construction projects for our growing client. These roles are focused on managing complex construction and service agreements, protecting the owner’s commercial interests, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. The successful candidate will play a key role in vendor management, contract negotiations, claims resolution, and procurement strategy. Initially a 12-month contract this opportunity offers strong potential for extension. Remote project site on a rotational schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Manage post-award relationships with construction, engineering, and service contractors
  • Act as the owner’s representative in contract negotiations and commercial discussions
  • Lead negotiations related to change orders, claims, scope clarifications, and dispute resolution
  • Support sourcing and procurement activities, including RFx development and tender evaluations
  • Monitor contractor performance, budgets, schedules, and compliance requirements
  • Develop contract strategies that reduce risk and support successful project delivery
  • Collaborate with legal, engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams to resolve commercial issues
  • Track vendor KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure vendors meet project quality, safety, and schedule expectations
  • Assist with contract administration processes and internal controls
  • Prepare reporting and documentation for project and executive stakeholders
  • Support long-term project planning and contractor engagement strategies

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Law, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in contract administration or contract management within capital projects
  • Experience working in industries such as mining, construction, utilities, oil and gas, or heavy industrial operations
  • Strong experience negotiating construction claims, change orders, and commercial terms
  • Knowledge of EPC or EPCM project environments is considered an asset
  • Experience supporting sourcing, procurement, or tendering processes
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, and commercial risk management
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Customer-focused and collaborative approach to vendor management
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional project teams
  • Proficiency with contract management systems, SAP, and Microsoft Office is an asset
  • Willingness to travel to project sites or work rotational schedules where required
  • Drug and Alcohol testing required for safety clearance on site.

Remuneration:

  • $90-$110/hr
