On behalf of our client, SWIM is looking for a new Senior Financial Analyst, IT Function. This is a varied role involving budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, P&L analysis, preparing routine and ad hoc reports for IT and Finance leadership, and cost calculations/allocations (analyzing things like licenses, subscriptions, vendor agreements, equipment, etc.)

The Senior Financial Analyst will report into the Senior Manager FP&A and will interact with colleagues in finance (FP&A, corporate development, accounting, etc.) and in IT. The Sr FA will use various systems and tools including Excel, Power BI, a newly implemented EPM (enterprise performance management system), and a sophisticated ERP. There is good opportunity for steady long-term career growth with this company over the years! SWIM will provide qualified and interested candidates with a full job description.

  Who- the Candidate:
  • Work Experience
    • Candidates will have 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in FP&A.
    • Ideally candidates will have worked for a large, global, public company (but not necessarily required for a quick learner).
    • Experience in the tech sector and supporting an IT dept/function is highly preferred but, if not, then a personal interest in/passion for the technology space is also great!
    • FP&A Skills:
      • Strong experience with budget management, ideally directly managing a global budget of over $50M.
      • Experience giving presentations regarding budgets, forecasts, and FP&A findings to senior level stakeholders such as CTO, CIO, and CFO.
      • Candidates don’t need to be trained accountants but need to have an understanding of accounting terminology, debits & credits, the P&L, and how accounting fits in with FP&A.
      • Soft Skills:
        • Qualified candidates will be clear, effective, and confident communicators who can collaborate closely with finance and non-finance colleagues.
        • Systems:
          • Strong technical and systems skills are required, particularly within Excel (including Power Query, macros, etc.) and Power BI. Experience using a large ERP is very beneficial. Experience using any other FP&A relevant systems (Cognos, Tableau, OneStream, IBM PAW, etc) would be great! Experience using PowerPoint to deliver clear, compelling, and relevant presentations.
          • Education:
            • Relevant post-secondary education is required for this role- such as a University degree in finance, commerce, business, or accounting.
            • Completion of CFA level 1 or 2 is highly preferred.

Where:

Working from the downtown Vancouver office, very accessible by rapid transit. Full-time in-office during the first month or so of training and onboarding. After that, the Senior Financial Analyst can choose to work from home 1 or 2 days a week (i.e. 3 mandatory in-office days per week).
