What- the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join this exciting and growing company! The Director of Finance is hiring for a new Payroll & Benefits Administrator.

This is a diverse role involving processing a bi-weekly multi-provincial payroll, preparing ROEs, creating payroll reports, enrolling new employees on the payroll and the benefits plan, answering employee questions regarding benefits, administering the company’s RRSP matching program, etc. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and working closely with colleagues in accounting and human resources. SWIM will provide interested candidates with a detailed job description. 

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking someone who aligns well with the culture and values of Phoenix Labs and who has the potential to develop in their career as the company grows (within payroll, or perhaps within other areas like accounting or human resources). Ideally, candidates will have worked in the gaming industry (or something similar, like a visual effect company or animation studio) or, if not, candidates will be interested in video games!

Education- Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of full-cycle payroll work experience, and ideally 3 to 6 years. Serious pursuit of PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is highly preferred, and the employee can achieve their necessary PCP work experience in this role.

Systems- Candidates must have hands-on experience using a payroll system and strong intermediate-level Excel skills (v look-ups, pivot tables, etc.). Experience with Google Sheets is an asset but not required.

Soft Skills- Great candidates for this role will be analytical, able to seek out and put in place process improvements, and eager to provide great internal service to their colleagues throughout the company. A teamwork attitude and people-oriented mentality is crucial for success in this role.  

Where:

The company is headquartered in Greater Vancouver, and they also have operations in a few other countries. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator must be based in or close to Greater Vancouver, and able to get to the office on a flexible hybrid schedule- please discuss with SWIM.

How Much:

During the contract portion, SWIM will be paying the Payroll professional an hourly rate commensurate with experience, skills, and education- likely in the range of $25.00 to $35.00 an hour. If/when this role converts to permanent, the salary will be in the range of $60,000 to $75,000, plus this company also provides an RRSP match, excellent health benefits, and a good amount of paid time off!
