WSP's Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is one of the most established and dynamic contaminated sites teams in the country. Our multidisciplinary group includes environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, and technical specialists, delivering contaminated sites program management services for some of the world's most technically driven organizations for more than 15 years. With a consistent 9-12 month backlog, we offer strong stability and meaningful growth opportunities for high-performing team members.
Our expertise spans health and safety, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, risk assessment, and remediation. We support major projects from coast to coast to coast, with work varying in size, complexity, and scope. This role will leverage the team's depth of expertise to efficiently manage significant field programs and deliver results.
WSP is currently seeking a Contaminated Sites Project Manager to join our RPM team, based in British Columbia or Alberta. In this role, you will manage environmental risk and site closure activities, overseeing monitoring, investigation, and remediation programs for sites impacted by hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, crude oil), fertilizers, and metals. You will also be responsible for preparing high-quality technical reports.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, and demonstrate strong time management and communication skills in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Your Impact
- Create a safe and positive environment for colleagues.
- Lead a project team and take on responsibilities including:
- Preparing health and safety plans and emergency response plans.
- Preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
- Scheduling of field staff and subcontractors.
- Report writing including preparing conclusions and recommendations.
- Project accounting, tracking and reporting requirements to the terms of reference under WSP's Master Services Agreements.
- Training junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, oversight of remediation etc.
- Training staff on site specific health and safety.
- Manage client relationships.
- Collaborate across the national RPM team and WSP.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to environmental scientists.
- Develop a personal career development plan with specific goals to achieve your career aspirations.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in related field (sciences and/or Engineering).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in contaminated site assessments.
- Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace/Possess a safety conscious attitude.
- An analytical mind; someone who is able to make recommendations on the next steps for client sites.
- Strong business acumen and financial management experience, developing, tracking and forecasting on annual budgets.
- Previous experience with soil and ground water sampling and remediation.
- Understanding of the BC Environmental regulations.
- Professional designation is preferred.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector will be an asset.
- Preference will be given to those individuals with more extensive experience with respect to soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, and provincial regulations.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $80,800 - $107,000
MB & ON: $73,700 - $101,500
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $73,000 - $96,900
