Job Title: BEHAVIOUR CONSULTANT – Full-time Hourly Wage: $44.54 to $54.52
Location: Prince Rupert Union Grid Level: 16-P
Terms: Permanent Full Time Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 4:30
35 hours per week (evenings, weekends may be required)

THE JOB: The NCCS Family Connection Center offers a variety of programs and services to children, youth, and families in Prince Rupert and the wider geographic area that includes Haida Gwaii. The FCC Behaviour Consultant is a member of a family-centered interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive services to children and youth with support needs (ages birth to 19) and their families. Reporting to the Team Lead for Goal-Focused Services, the Behaviour Consultant develops, implements and evaluates behavioural intervention strategies and programs for children and youth and provides training to caregivers to facilitate successful living in the community. Receiving referrals from the referral/intake team, the Behaviour Consultant conducts functional and skill assessments, develops Intervention Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans, analyzes data, and monitors progress on goals. The Behaviour Consultant coordinates and schedules the work of the Behaviour Interventionists and provides appropriate education and supervision.
THE CANDIDATE: NCCS is looking for an individual who holds the fundamental belief that each individual matters and that quality assessment and intervention services include culturally inclusive and trauma informed practices. As the supervisor of an energetic team providing behavioural intervention services, the successful candidate will bring humanity, support, and guidance to families in need and to staff, as well as a vision of the future that will address complex community needs, including the use of remote service delivery technologies.
NCCS requires a motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a human services field (e.g. Special Education, Educational Psychology, Behavioural Sciences).
- Two years’ experience conducting Behaviour Assessments resulting in the creation of Intervention Plans or Positive Behaviour Support Plans that incorporates evidence-based intervention for people with behaviour challenges in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
- Possesses or is working towards Board Certified Behaviour Analyst credential through the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the employer and contract manager
Core Competencies include:
- Knowledge of neurotypical child development through age 19 and conditions that contribute to delays in development for children and youth
- Knowledge necessary to identify needs and supports required when working with families, children and youth with support needs and knowledge of current evidence-based behavioural intervention approaches
- How to establish and maintain respectful relationships and rapport with staff to provide positive supervision
- Ability to use standard office information technology and the ability to learn new applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements:
- Clear Criminal Record Review
- Physical ability to meet job requirements
- Class 5 driver's license, clear driver's abstract and daily access to and use of vehicle
- Willingness to travel to communities within the region of service delivery, including Haida Gwaii
