About

Hey! We’re Radical I/O, a people-first enterprise software development consultancy and lab that develops technology with purpose. We work with cities and organizations to develop meaningful, data-driven solutions that provide people with easy access to information, when and where they need it.

We’re a woman-led company with a small (yet mighty!) team of 10-12 people (growing to 20+ by the end of 2019), and we come from a diverse mix of backgrounds, experiences, locations, and perspectives. Our roles are split about 50/50 between developers and business/project/design/leadership, but we’re definitely looking to expand our development team. We’re proud that we don’t compromise our principles for profit, and that we keep all development local to Vancouver so that we can positively impact and grow our local tech community.

While we’re essentially technology agnostic in order to work with the right tech for the right purpose, we definitely lean more towards working with JavaScript on both the front-end (React, Angular, Vue) and the back-end (NodeJS), but we also use Java, Python, Scala, and Go with systems like Kafka, Spark, and ElasiticSearch. On mobile, we focus on Swift, Java and Hybrid web like React Native. Most of what we develop is in the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google/Firebase). We orchestrate deployments using Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, and automate continuous integration with Jenkins. We’re heavily focused on API-oriented architectures and system integrations that run at scale. Data is at the core of everything we do. For our day-to-day collaborative work, we tend to rely on Atlassian products (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence), Google Suite, and Invision.

We love to hire people who are fairly flexible and generalists in nature (but who still have, or pick up, a speciality or two), and who contribute to our environment of belonging, integrity, and caring for others. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we do hope you’re willing to learn as you go and that you enjoy tackling unknowns.
