Scope

Reporting directly the Transportation Infrastructure Manager, this is a senior transportation technologist, infrastructure specialist and supervisory position that provides support and assistance to senior staff in managing, supporting data analysis and processing related to asset management, budgeting, funding applications for transportation infrastructure in Surrey.

Responsibilities

    • Preparing of technical documentation (design scope and Terms of References, tracking and reporting financial performance and budgeting for infrastructure projects, preparing funding applications). • Reviewing of engineering designs, preparing reports for asset management. • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior-level engineering staff. • Coordinating with the transportation team and associated project management duties. • Undertaking of policy and technical research and assessment for public and Council presentations. • Act as a key person responsible for liaising and coordinating with internal staff, external agencies including TransLink and the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure and responding to enquiries from consultants and the public when required.


Qualifications

    • Completion of a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution; • Five years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability and supervisory experience in the relevant areas of civil engineering; • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. • This position requires a valid B.C. driver's license. • The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects while ensuring timelines and deliverables are met. • Able to work well in a high-performing team environment and able to provide mentorship to junior-level staff. • The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in all aspects of urban multi-modal transportation and enjoy working in a collaborative and high performing environment. • Able to make decisions on issues of varying complexity without the direct involvement of a manager but able to exercise judgement on when to escalate. • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills able to respond effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal staff and external agencies.
