The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to assume a Project Manager role and meaningfully contribute to a team that plans and designs active transportation infrastructure, complete streets and urban mobility solutions.

The Transportation Planning group offers planning and engineering services for the full spectrum of transportation challenges. These include but are not limited to: Complete Street and Active Transportation/Trails Infrastructure Planning, Functional and Detailed Design, regional and area transportation studies, site specific transportation assessments, design guidelines and innovative design solutions/research, transportation demand management (TDM), public engagement, road safety improvements, transit planning, parking studies and traffic analysis.

Our Transportation staff participate in cutting-edge projects such as complete streets, planning for autonomous vehicles and shared mobility, micro-mobility, Vision Zero, design-build, and P3 assignments.

A day in the life:

•Manage and control all aspects of projects to achieve the Client's goals, including schedule, budget and quality objectives through the application of formal project management process, techniques and procedures
•Plan, execute and control the project through all phases from initial feasibility through preliminary design/definition, detailed design, construction, commissioning and validation
•Applying best practices and identifying innovative solutions in active transportation master planning and design assignments, engineering analyses and studies as required for the planning, design and implementation of multi-modal transportation, transit and traffic projects
•Directing and coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team (internal staff, external consultants, contractors, and suppliers) to achieve the Client's objectives consistent with the scope of services to be provided
•Working with a multi-disciplinary team including transportation/traffic engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects
•Preparation and/or oversight of technical memos and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations
•Attending and participating at client and public meetings

What you'll bring to WSP ...

•A passion and/or professional interest in sustainable transportation and contributing to the planning and design of mobility solutions that support the goal of mitigating climate change
•Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Transportation Engineering
•P. Eng License
•5-8 or more years' experience in the transportation engineering and planning field with experience in transportation impact assessments, active transportation infrastructure design and/or project management and senior engineering responsibilities
•Project management / leadership skills and ability to support the management team in a growing and diverse practice
•Able to demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills and proficient using Microsoft Office
•Experience in traffic operations and site analysis
•Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation will set you apart from your peer group
•Experience in transportation software and methods (e.g. Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, CCG, VISSIM, Aimsun) are essential
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and customer relationship skills are essential
