Ballard's Production team has an exciting opportunity for a Training Coordinator in our Burnaby BC headquarters. You will be working directly with the Director of Production and Team Leads and will contribute to continuously improving Ballard's production operations training programs. Responsibilities:
  • Communicating with stakeholders to identify training needs and map out development plans for teams and individuals. Focus on improving standardized work training and qualification process for all Production team roles
  • Evaluate existing production learning programs, make recommendations for change, and upon approval, implement these changes
  • Facilitate training activities as required
  • Partner with the Director of Learning in P&C for support
  • Work closely with wider learning/training teams to share best practices
  • Identify learning objectives, consult with subject matter experts, and source relevant information to develop curriculum content in accordance with the organization's strategic and operational plans
  • Develop an appropriate evaluation plan i.e. knowledge and hands-on job application including evaluating effectiveness of offerings
  • Coordinate delivery in collaboration with internal employees and external providers, implement and evaluate training curriculum and materials that is engaging, and supports internal learning
  • Systematically monitors training effectiveness through metrics, dashboard and analysis
  • Adoption of Skill & Aptitude Assessments to improve recruitment and training outcomes
  • Creation of a scalable Operator Training program for implementation across existing and future plants company-wide
  • Undertake any other duties, consistent with skills and experience, as directed by the reporting manager


Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree of Education, Training, HR or related field
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator or similar role
  • Experience with various training methods, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs and e-learning. Experience with different projects, like management training and soft-skills development, is also essential
  • The ideal candidate will also show a demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Intrinsic motivation to succeed and complete project tasks in a timely manner with little supervision
  • Ability to present training materials in an engaging and effective manner - facilitation experience
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools eg. Articulate 360 - is an asset
  • Capacity to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities to achieve high quality outcomes
  • Experience training in a manufacturing/production environment considered an asset
  • Experience in Train the Trainer considered an asset
  • ESL instruction experience considered an asset
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use Microsoft Office)
