Amazon's new delivery platform, Amazon Flex, aims to delight customers by delivering millions of packages faster than ever before. We are expanding our platform rapidly to new geographies and products from groceries to big-screen TVs in an increasingly complex transportation network. We recently launched Prime Now, Amazon's newest benefit for Prime members who can now skip a trip to the store by shopping on the Prime Now app for products like paper towels, shampoo, books, toys and batteries with orders delivered right to their door in an hour or less. With Amazon Flex, individuals can now be their own boss while earning up to $25 or more delivering ultra-fast Prime Now and Restaurant orders. Both Amazon Flex and delivery experience of Prime Now are powered by the Flex App, which is available on iOS and Android. The Flex App works in concert with our advanced logistics systems and technology in the Flex Platform. The Flex App and Platform will allow the delivery partner to onboard, schedule delivery times in advance or on demand, guide them through their deliveries with in-app mapping and navigation, and more. As part of this new org, we are building new development teams in Seattle. You will be responsible for hiring the development team and working on a v 1.0 product. Your team will be working on building a brand new platform to recruit and manage accounts for millions of crowd sourced delivery partners. The work will range from building intelligent systems to generate leads, vet and verify Delivery Partners, and manage account information life cycle. To support all these needs you will build tier 1 services within the Delivery Partner Identity platform which will help identifying millions of Delivery partners uniquely. You will also build systems to authorize Delivery Partners to get access to restricted resources. Your team will also be responsible for building a web platform for the delivery partners to log on, get access to work information, schedule their work and earn their wages!.

You will be responsible for scoping and delivering large, complex V1 projects end-to-end for our new initiatives. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, driving project schedules from design to release, communicating to stakeholders and executives, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. It is imperative that you gain a deep technical understanding of our systems and be able to speak to them. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

You should possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current back-end and mobile technologies. You will be expected to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or conflicting priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level critical initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.


• Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• A minimum of 3 years of Technical Program Management experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant development and design experience.
• Problem-solving skills and the abilities to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements and prioritize program deliverables.
• Presentation and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with senior leaders across a variety of groups throughout Amazon.


• Experience with agile or similar program management methodologies.
• Experience as both a developer and project manager.
• Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units.
• Experience working with remote teams and external partners.
