Job summary
Secure AI Foundations (SAIF) provides secure internal platforms for the entire Alexa organization, including thousands of software developers and applied scientists. The SAIF Datalake org is building Amazon's largest data lake, where millions of data are stored every second and must be organized and retrieved with millsecond latencies. We are customers of some of the largest AWS resources in the world, including S3, DDB and Kinesis. The Technical Program Manager we are looking to hire for this role will work across Amazon (AWS, Alexa, and other tenants of our services including CV and other device teams) to coordinate large-scale programs that advance our security, reduce our latency and increase our throughput.

Key job responsibilities
  • Define, drive, and deliver critical, large scale, high quality, and operable ML data enabling services that satisfy and delight the Alexa ML community and have a substantive impact on the Alexa business.
  • Independently manage and deliver programs and projects where strategy or technical solutions may not yet be defined.
  • Influence roadmap priorities, features, and engineering process working across multiple Alexa teams.
  • Define program requirements and help engineering teams meet goals, accelerating progress by driving timely decisions, clearing blockers, and making trade offs.
  • Drive detailed business and technical discussions and alignment through meetings and clear, concise written communication.
  • Communicate status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leaders throughout Alexa.
  • Understand design approaches to identify and mitigate risks, asking the right technical questions to ensure the right trade-offs are made.
  • Improve engineering processes within and across teams to improve the team's efficiency and delivery.

-Build relationships with your customers, partner teams, and the engineers on your team.

About the team

The SAIF Datalake org is responsible for storing all of the data used by Alexa's applied scientists and machine learning engineers to build and improve customer experience. We are a team of about 30 software engineers, co-located in Amazon's Cambridge MA office which also contains many of our customer teams (software developers and applied scientists working on Alexa). We host one of Amazon's largest data lakes, and are constantly challenged by the scale at which we must ingest and store data. We are building the next generation of our data lake to improve data throughput and reduce latency of data delivery to allow for advances in model development by the Alexa ML community.
