JOB DESCRIPTION Duties:
Distribution Standards has a challenging opportunity for a senior engineer; this position will provide expertise on distribution overhead systems and will support the Joint Use and Shared Assets office to ensure the attachment of telecommunication wires, antennas, and equipment boxes meets the requirements of both the national code and internal BC Hydro standards.
Work will include:
* Developing BC Hydro construction and design standards for telecommunication attachments to overhead distribution systems. * Collaborating with telecommunication companies to develop shared standards. * Representing BC Hydro on committees for joint use of poles for both power and telecommunication attachments. * Supporting field trials of new standards for telecom attachments. * Providing subject matter expertise for resolution of location specific issues.

reach consensus. * The ability to investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, many of which are of a challenging and unusual nature. * The ability to manage the successful delivery and implementation of projects to clients through superior project management skills, a superior customer service attitude, and strong communication skills. * Superior computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, databases, and web tools); Advanced knowledge of MS Excel is an asset. * Excellent English language communication skills including listening, technical writing and presenting. * A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or another Canadian provincial engineering association. * A minimum of eight years of relevant experience. * A demonstrated ability to lead through influence with proven facilitation and negotiation skills * A valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license or ability to obtain same in B.C.
