Sr. Canada Immigration Project Specialist

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Canada Immigration Specialist to support the needs of our growing organization. This Vancouver or Toronto-based leadership role will support our Canada immigration program end-to-end and manage a complex portfolio of Canada immigration projects. This work will include legally complex Canada immigration work such as analyses and filing strategies for entity restructures, M&A and in-country expansion filing strategies, creation of processes and strategies to ensure immigration compliance, impact assessments and response strategies to new policy memos or regulations. You will partner closely with other peer Immigration Project Specialists/Managers on the larger global immigration team.

Responsibilities include:
• Hands on leader with proven track record of transforming immigration processes and programs
• Understand current state of system, processes, and Canada immigration policy and regulations
• Continually identify areas of redundancy or no-value add to ensure process, procedure, and staffing optimization
• Oversee complex immigration projects and programs, which could include LMIA, GTS, Reciprocal Exchange category
• Create tracking mechanisms and other dashboards that measure overall health of programs, such as cycle times, use of GTS and LMIA, PNP and Canada Experience Class, and support of displaced employees
• Benchmark with other similarly situated companies through industry advocacy orgs such as CFGI, CERC, or ERC
• Work with senior leadership within Amazon's HRS Immigration team, Legal, Public Policy, PR to review and understand impact of immigration changes and develop associated processes or filing strategies as needed
• Educate managers and business partners on employee Canada immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines
• Mentor other Immigration Specialists on the larger team, particularly in program and project management, and provide stretch opportunities where appropriate based on interest/skill

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as HR, MBA)
• 8-10+ years of Canada immigration experience, either within a law firm (such as a supervising paralegal or managing attorney with responsibility for immigration petition preparation/filings) or in-house in an organization with a significant volume of immigration-supported employees or in a recruiting or HR role with heavy Canada immigration involvement
• 5+ years of experience in managing complex immigration projects


• Law degree or Master's degree in related field (such as HR, MBA)
• 10+ years of high volume business immigration experience with heavy emphasis on program management, continuous improvement, project management
• Successful record of building, improving, and running operational business processes in Canada, ability to drive program effectiveness and high levels of customer satisfaction
• Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, assuming leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances - solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment
• Experience with LatAm immigration a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communications - ability to interface with all levels of the organization
