Position Overview: The Solution Architect will be a key technical lead in our Performance Solutions team to design and implement next generation customer facing IoT solutions. This position will work with stakeholders, vendors, creatives, and partners to build the technical strategy, mitigate risk, and evaluate new technologies and solutions. The Solution Architect will balance the needs of multiple competing priorities and ensure we think big and plan for future changes and growth.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions
  • Converting requirements (functional and non-functional) into a solution architecture design for customer solutions, digital platforms, and integrations
  • Participating as a member of the project team, the Solution Architect will support the technical team with decision making, trade-offs and technical /architectural evaluations, and recommendations/decisions
  • Facilitate and liaise with related teams, vendors, and partners providing technical and architectural perspective
  • Working with existing documentation and with delivery and operations teams to discover and document the current state to facilitate gap analysis with required future state
  • Working with internal groups, external vendors, and partners to create a holistic solution architecture which will guide each of the work-streams' technical and functional designs ​
  • Engaging with the Finning International Architects to ensure alignment on Enterprise strategy, direction, standards and policies
  • Ownership of the development of the end to end Solution Architecture and Design and related deliverables, completeness of solution designs as well as quality factors
  • Ownership of the technical risk for the project, identification of risks and contingencies, and mitigation's for all technical risks
  • Expected outcome of work will be a fully integrated platform that combines the work products of each work stream

  • Ability to communicate using sketches, workflows, wireframes and functional specifications to communicate technical design options

Education & Experience
  • University degree in Computer Science or other relevant field of engineering
  • 8+ years of development and architecture experience
  • Experience using sketches, workflows, wireframes and functional specifications to communicate requirements
  • Expertise in the design and development of highly available, customer facing web solutions
  • Experience developing and balancing long term architecture strategy and short term tactics
  • Backend integration experience with multiple systems
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices
  • Experience with blended and virtual teams
  • Experience with modern testing practices incl. automation
