We have been successful in taking ownership of the Enterprise Academic-Dental market in North America with greater than 90% market share through our people first approach to business. We want to continue building on that success while expanding our presence in related markets. To achieve those goals, we are looking for a Software Team Lead who is passionate about continuous learning, brings strong software development leadership experience and adopts a collaborative approach to problem solving.

The primary responsibility of this role is to build and lead a brand new team of full-stack Software Engineers, to build our axiUm Ascend cloud enterprise solution, along with our suite of services. You will be engaged throughout all phases of the product development life cycle and use your drive for technology and quality to exceed customer expectations. Your primary objective is to have a customer-first attitude and lead a team that ships high-quality software. As a leader you will be expected to bring fresh ideas and solutions to help take our technologies to the next level and build a fun and high-performance team. 

You have 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer and 2+ years as a software development team lead. This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about technology and looks forward to spending 75% of their time coding, researching, prototyping, architecting, and 25% on team leadership. This role reports to the Director of Software Development.

  • Facilitate decision-making, issue resolution and consensus among the team members.

  • Contribute and take ownership in departmental initiatives such as training, cloud security and cost management.
  • Participate in hiring new talent and standing up new software development teams.
  • Mentor and coach talent with experience ranging from junior to senior engineers.
  • Engage in active career planning with your direct team members.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • 2+ years of formal leadership experience in managing a software development team.
  • Several years of development experience with Javascript-based (Node.js., Vue.js, Backbone) and Java (Grails, Springboot) technologies.
  • Solid experience in building optimized and performant software on AWS and cloud.
  • 3+ years of working with SQL, query optimization, and building scalable and maintainable enterprise level databases.
  • Professional knowledge of OOP, enterprise design patterns, concurrency and multi-threading programming, n-tier architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with scaled web application development and service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience with data warehousing tools, ETL, reporting and middleware.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge/background is an asset but not mandatory.
