The Role

Through the development of the Cambio Platform, BGC has pioneered the use of digital data integration techniques to support the management of geospatial and geotechnical data for our clients to make informed decisions. Cambio utilizes a state-of-the-art cloud-based technology stack that pulls a variety of data sources into a single view. The software is used globally across numerous sectors including pipeline, mining, rail, highway, and communities/municipalities. As the demand for Cambio has greatly increased, we are building the team and currently seeking an energetic leader to expand the business. This position can be based at one of our Canadian offices listed above.

Reporting to BGC’s Management Team and Board of Directors, the Software Team General Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of the Cambio business, including the product lifecycle, prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering to deliver business growth.


  • Lead both the development and execution of Cambio business strategies and present in the annual software development plan
  • Actively partner with business stakeholders and project sponsors to manage program/project scope, risks and issues to gain consensus on go-forward approach/plans
  • Develop and establish project budgets and financial performance projections
  • Manage financial forecasts and changes, tracking actual costs and variance to the approved budget
  • Communicate progress via targeted project reports, providing timely and accurate status and decision support information to project teams, project stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Lead, mentor and grow a high-performance team of over 50 professionals, including computer scientists, software engineers, data scientists, geospatial data exports, DevOps, UI/UX support and testing as well as product managers and owners
  • Lead the team in the understanding of the Cambio platform customer KPI’s; cascade opportunities and measures to increase effectiveness, streamline processes and drive continuous improvement

Required Education, Experience & Competencies 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum 15-20 years’ progressive software program management experience including planning and executing complex projects across multiple locations and geographies
  • Ability to collaborate and influence at the Management level to achieve ambitious strategic goals; experience working with a Board of Directors preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with web-based software product development, product quality and brand marketing
  • Sound knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with mentoring, motivating and growing cross-discipline teams to drive performance and professional growth
  • Sharp financial and business acumen, innate curiosity and a passion for solving challenges
  • Established practices of using software development methodologies
  • A focus on vision setting, consensus building and leveraging data to validate and inform strategy
  • Experience expanding product offerings and scaling into global markets preferred
