We manage the traffic flowing through one of the largest networks in the industry, managing billions of requests. EC2 Networking is re-inventing itself again, and on a mission to transform how customers use networking.
We need your strategic help though! We are looking for a Software Development Manager who wants to build a next-generation networking service that will shift how customers use networking in the cloud. We need someone who will think big, deal with copious amounts of ambiguity, have laser focus on customers, and drive for results. We would like someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get things done. At the end of the day, you can't build anything without great engineers, so we want a leader who unblocks and empowers their team, grows and develops them, and unleashes them to solve big problems. You will build this new team of well-rounded software engineers and lead them to deliver a major portion of this brand new service.

This leader has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a rapid growth environment where priorities shift quickly. We are looking for a leader who prioritizes well, communicates clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team. They are an experienced engineering leader who is comfortable building teams and developing staff. This leader possesses a proven track record of building a culture centered on customer focus, efficient execution, high quality, rigorous testing, deep monitoring, and solid deployment practices. AWS in general, and this business in particular, operates at very large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. Demonstrating a high degree of ownership and accountability is a must to succeed in this critical leadership position.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
• Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
• 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
• 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 7+ years of industry experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of software development
• A minimum of 3 years of software management experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Technically sound in software development activities and life cycles
• Passion for great customer experience and API usability
• Software development experience in Java, XML, Web services, UNIX tools
• Experience with large scale distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts and features
• A passion for people management and mentoring
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills
• Internet and operating system fundamentals
