The Automated Brand Protection team aims to deliver a trusted and complete Buyer-facing product catalog by helping Brands protect their intellectual property and accurately represent themselves on Amazon. We build large scale, low latency, high throughput, distributed software systems that identify, prevent and act on all forms of product listings abuse on the Amazon catalog. These systems will rely on data from our innovative, next-generation image processing and machine learning solutions.

We are hiring a Software Development Manager to lead an exciting new initiative in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. In this highly visible role, you will craft a vision to stay ahead of abuse on the catalog, partner with business teams to design and document requirements, develop and influence technical strategies on your team and it's dependencies, and manage a software roadmap for delivery of features. You'll be responsible for leading (and growing) a software team that delivers robust, scalable and stable systems to safeguard the Amazon catalog from fraud to deliver a superior, unsurpassed shopping experience for our customers.

The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, an affinity to being a leader, experience running software teams with Agile methodologies, and experience owning a product roadmap along with a technical vision. A successful candidate will have a strong technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities. Your technical expertise and operational excellence will influence the team's decisions.

Key job responsibilities
As an Engineering Manager, you will:
  • Lead a talented group of engineers to develop innovative solutions in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
  • Work closely with your Product and Program partners to develop the vision, propose goals and technical strategy in alignment with customer needs.
  • Work with Scientists to develop cutting-edge Machine Learning algorithms
  • Mentor engineers, provide leadership on complex technical issues, design trade-offs, and feature and schedule prioritization.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an agile environment.
  • Grow the team by hiring and developing a team of best-in-class engineers.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience in OOP (e.g. Java, Ruby, Python, C#, C++) and designing highly scalable systems
  • Full lifecycle software development team management experience, from inception to delivery, through production operations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience with the Scrum or Agile methodology
  • Experience with Amazon AWS
  • Ability to design software that can run in the cloud and handle Amazon-scale traffic
  • Experience in full-stack web development (AJAX, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
