Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA) is a managed orchestration service for Apache Airflow that makes it easier to set up and operate end-to-end data pipelines in the cloud at scale. We are looking for a software development manager to lead feature development for Amazon MWAA. This role requires ownership, autonomy, and an ability to deliver results. You should be a self-starter with a bias towards independent problem solving. Clear communication and prioritization will be important as you partner with Product Management to plan, and deliver experiences for customers of Amazon MWAA. You have a passion for managing complex technology projects and helping the team make strong business judgments.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. • 5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
• Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
• 2+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent)
• Experience with agile software methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.


• Experience running and maintaining a large scale, 24x7 service-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple centers.
• A passion for people management and mentorship
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the software life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, control management, build processes, testing, and operations
