The Amazon Consumer Payments organization has a positions available for creative and independent engineer with a passion for scalable, high-performance services to define and build cutting edge softwares in Payments. This candidate will help in building the Amazon's Payments systems and launch new services for payments across Amazon's global portfolio. You will use your experience to drive innovative, customer-focused payment solutions to provide cutting edge, highly scalable feature for Amazon's customers around the globe.
As a member of the Amazon Payment Services Team, you will invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a massively scalable, rock-solid platform solution using object-oriented Java on various UNIX-flavored platforms. We are a fast-paced environment, using agile methodology and lightweight SOA design patterns. We encourage innovation and expect developers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience

• 2+ years professional experience in software development

• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design

• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures

• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Familiarity with Object Oriented programming - Java, Python or similar will be beneficial
• Familiarity with cloud systems, distributed systems at scale, Optimization in cloud systems.
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
