Amazon CloudWatch is AWS' monitoring service for cloud resources and applications. Thousands of developers and operations engineers use CloudWatch to collect and visualize metrics, collect and monitor log files, set alarms, process events, visualize systems telemetry, and automatically react to changes in AWS resources or in users' applications.

Within CloudWatch, the CloudWatch Logs team builds and manages some of the largest logging systems in the world. CloudWatch Logs allows AWS users to ingest their application and AWS logs in a highly scalable, durable, and reliable service for enterprise scale; find and analyze the right log data to solve operational problems; generate metrics and alarms from their log events; or send log data to other downstream systems, for example.

The CloudWatch Logs team is expanding in Vancouver, BC and is looking for talented software engineers who can help us create the massive scale and powerful new paradigms that our customers need to be successful. In the CloudWatch Logs team we are solving a variety of tough and interesting problems, from building highly-distributed ingestion systems at massive data scale, to building highly scalable and highly efficient storage engines, to creating streaming systems that process logs at high throughput, to building workflows and data visualizations for users, just to name a few. The team owns all aspects of the CloudWatch Logs service and other log-related systems, including requirements, architecture, design & development, quality, deployment, and operations. We are also developing innovative new capabilities from the ground up that will transform the way customers use their logs while also giving them high performance, low costs, and exceptional ease-of-use.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying and managing some of our new services, or redesigning our existing systems for increasing levels of scale and efficiency. You will deliver large-scale, high performance production systems, design new software systems at the cutting edge of distributed database technology, and have a significant bottom-line impact on our business results. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other senior and principal engineers who are domain experts at AWS to help you deepen your expertise in distributed systems, query engines, open source applications, performance optimization, and operational excellence. You will enjoy competitive compensation and your contributions in this role will impact customers and businesses around the world.
