You'll develop an intelligent system to automatically resolve disruptions occurring in the real world. You will regularly interact with our customers, and engineering and business leadership. You will participate in the planning and execution of technology projects and operational excellence initiatives. You'll help junior engineers develop their skills, and continue to raise the bar and build the future of Amazon.

To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in building highly scalable systems and applications, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building and operating web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 4+ years of Software Development experience
  • Solid software development background with strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
  • Strong, object-oriented and coding skills (Java preferably on Linux platform)
  • Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
  • Software development experience in building highly scalable applications
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
