About the OpportunityThe City of Abbotsford is currently looking for a talented Senior Water Engineer for a full-time, permanent position, based out of Abbotsford City Hall.
Reporting to the Director of Utilities Infrastructure, the Senior Water Engineer will lead, coach, and support a group of engineering professionals, while managing both Regional water supply and City distribution programs. As the City’s technical expert, you will work closely with external consultants, as well as respond to enquiries from the public and outside agencies.
In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Degree in Civil Engineering or other related discipline. You will also have a designation as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, or be eligible to obtain one. Your previous work experience will include a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the field, with working knowledge of water resources engineering or water management. You must be proficient in Microsoft 365 for this role.
Our ideal candidate will also have worked in a leadership or mentorship capacity, as well as have experience working in or with local governments. Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute academic/experience requirements.
To succeed in this role, you must be a team player with impeccable interpersonal skills and the ability to create and nurture relationships with different stakeholders. Your professionalism and superior communication skills will serve you well, as you will be called upon to prepare and present reports to Committees, Council, and Strategic Leadership Team (SLT). You must also have the technical knowledge to be able to come up to solutions to issues as they arise in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
