This enables us to execute the purchase and validation of lottery tickets at over 3500 lottery retailers, manage a complex network of 12,000 slot machines and electronic table games across the province and provide the backbone for BCLC's eGaming platform, and much more.

Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Analyst, GMS and Casino Systems role coordinates and executes the technical design and delivery of system solutions efficiently and effectively; collaborates with all parties to identify the impact of stakeholder requirements and to design systems and technical solutions based on industry standards and design principles. This role acts as a consultative partner and oversees the overall IT delivery of gaming products as required.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provides technical, analytical, and subject matter expertise to enterprise-wide IT projects by directing vendors and BCLC technical delivery teams. Ensures technical designs of applications are flexible, open, scalable, highly available, and maintainable within a high volume production environment.
  • Facilitates technical and joint-design workshops with technical delivery teams to ensure thorough design and implementation, identifying opportunities to create reusable and standardized components; Provides work time and cost estimation of various Business Technology resources for Solution Opportunities.
  • Assists in the design of data, service, application, and middleware components using industry standards to support business objectives, capabilities, and growth; Ensures system implementations adhere to requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
  • Creates, modifies and maintains applications, services, and integrations to support gaming initiatives, following a defined SDLC, through analysis, design, development, unit testing, and integrated testing; Contributes to departmental and corporate standards, principles, and process through industry best practices for application management.
  • Manages technical deliverables across teams and external vendors; Facilitates and coordinates integrated development testing between vendors and various technical delivery teams.
  • Assists and coordinates the timely resolution of defects fixes, providing guidance on the priority and severity of defects to ensure solution delivery schedules are met.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary education in information technology supplemented by industry recognized professional courses;
  • 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in an IT environment;
  • Experience designing and implementing systems using Service-Oriented Architecture technologies, principles, and standards, working within a formalized System Development Lifecycle, and with Unified Modeling Language, software design tools, and design patterns;
  • Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of simple to complex, integrated systems; Can interpret and translate requirements and Solution Architecture into a structured design with clearly defined deliverables, and coordinate and direct vendors and internal delivery teams;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project an asset;
  • Project management or leadership experience would be an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong skills in Microsoft database and server operating systems;
  • Strong initiative;
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to lead others by example;
  • Solid organizational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure within a team/consultative environment with changing priorities;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including technical and business writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry would be an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and provide after-hours support as needed.
