The Senior Regional Safety Advisor (Sr. RSA) provides coaching, guidance and assistance on safety program implementation, regulatory compliance, hazard assessment and control, as well as other health and safety-related matters to all locations within their assigned region. The Sr. RSA is instrumental in promoting a culture of safety and influencing safe working conditions and behaviors.

The Sr. RSA will maintain a close working relationship with the Sales and Operations Managers to ensure that safety objectives are clearly communicated and that the activities designed to meet those objectives are collaboratively planned.

In addition, the Sr. RSA provides mentoring and guidance to Site Supervisors to assist them in developing within their roles by improving their safety related level of knowledge and results.


Field Support, Education and Training
\u2022 Works with Site Supervisors to implement safety program requirements
\u2022 Advises Site Supervisors of their safety responsibilities and how to fulfill them
\u2022 Provides guidance on policy & procedural matters relating to health and safety
\u2022 Works with sites to resolve health and safety issues
\u2022 Provides technical assistance and advice on the control of workplace hazards
\u2022 Assists in the review of new work processes, equipment and materials to assess safety impacts and determine and implement effective control strategies
\u2022 Communicates safety program updates and/or new safety initiatives
\u2022 Develops and delivers safety training, including presentations and educational materials

\u2022 Plans, conducts and reports on the results of internal safety audits
\u2022 Assists sites with developing, implementing and monitoring preventative action plans to address site audit deficiencies
\u2022 Maintains records of audit findings and preventative action
\u2022 Provides audit guidance to Sales and Operation Managers
\u2022 Performs safety program reviews

Hazard Assessment & Control
\u2022 Assists in the assessment of work processes to identify hazards, assess risks and determine appropriate controls
\u2022 Monitors the effectiveness of controls
\u2022 Maintains records of assessments and control measures
\u2022 Prepares and communicates hazard and precautionary information
Incident Investigation & Review
\u2022 Provides guidance to Site Supervisors in conducting incident investigations, including the identification of root causes and appropriate preventative actions
\u2022 Support the investigation of any high potential or significant incidents
\u2022 Develops incident and hazard alerts
\u2022 Review injury and incident data to identify trends and recommend improvement strategies

Regulatory Inspections & Orders
\u2022 Provides guidance to Site Supervisors on the interpretation of regulations and appropriate compliance measures
\u2022 Liaise with Corporate Health and Safety team in response to any regulatory orders/demands
\u2022 Provides advice and guidance on compliance with inspection orders

Safety Committee
\u2022 Lead the local MTG Canada H&S Committees
\u2022 Establish annual goals and objective for the Committee
\u2022 Set agenda, assign tasks, support development of solutions
\u2022 Distribution of minutes and action plans throughout the Region

\u2022 Minimum 5-8 years\u2019 experience working in a full-time safety position

\u2022 Extensive knowledge of federal/provincial safety legislation \u2013 fully competent to access, interpret and apply all relevant Act(s) and Regulations and assess and establish compliance
\u2022 Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
\u2022 Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and research skills
\u2022 Expert knowledge and experience in evaluating regulatory and safety program compliance and overall safety program performance
\u2022 Extensive experience in leading incident investigations, performing cause analysis and preparing formal reports of findings and recommendations
\u2022 Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
\u2022 Able to develop effective relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
\u2022 Able to gain credibility and engage, motivate and positively influence others
\u2022 Able to explain areas for improvement and offer solutions in a collaborative and respectful way
\u2022 A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or the equivalent combination of education and experience
\u2022 Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
\u2022 Past or current COR auditor certification

\u2022 Required to travel within region 50% of the time

\u2022 Experience in an industrial environment
