The Program Manager of Process Improvement is a key role for our newly formed Strategic Governance and Capabilities team, within the Customer Network Implementation (CNI) - Project Management Office (PMO).

CNI connects Western Canadian homes and businesses to TELUS' high speed fibre network. The larger business unit includes schedule management, deliverables management and capital management for e2e new network delivery from Planning, Construction and to fibre-connection to premises.

Our newly formed Strategic Governance & Capabilities Development team drives enablement within CNI, including: future community selection and readiness; strategic governance within the business unit and across other business units; process redesign and capabilities development.

As our senior change agent, you will help us lay foundations for a new phase of our business unit. You'll find and pursue process and systems changes to support our strong track record of production delivery.

You'll help our business unit transition from a successful start-up, towards a new phase of delivery.

In our previous few years, our program acted as start-up within TELUS:
    •Talented team members bootstrapped processes, e.g. spreadsheets, email requests, ad-hoc reports etc •Despite humble processes, our program delivered stellar achievement and over-delivery:
      •We connected remote communities who had limited or no internet and TV options •We upgraded hundreds of thousands of homes to fibre internet and IP-based TV •We managed minimal financial variance on billions of investment dollars along the way

Now, the opportunity is to transform bootstrapped processes with more sustainable processes and systems that will be used for the next decade. We are on the journey towards more formalized process improvement, structured governance, opportunity evaluation and delivery.

New structures and capabilities that you introduce will standardize practices and enhance stakeholder decisions. New capabilities will help team members focus on generating insights and recommendations:
    •New processes will reduce the drudgery of manual transactions •New capabilities will clarify ambiguity caused by disparate data and comments

Here's how

In this role, you are the owner and enabler of redesigned process practices, we want someone who is fearless and is excited by big, meaty projects. What this means to you is, you will:
    •Assess each step of the employee journey using data, visual representation of the story, failure mode analysis •Re-design decision governance support and change management •Final output will include the replacement of processes from manual email, spreadsheets and reports towards defined workflow in systems such as Atlassian-Jira, Domo & Adaptive Insights •Along with the implementation of these new tools, you will quantify and reinforce how improvements are continually making life better for team members, partners and generating value •Structure improvements into sprints and iterations which create immediate value, instead of ad-hoc fixes, you will establish a strategic roadmap of capabilities which you prioritize with key stakeholders •Collaborate with a large group of cross functional partners including: all functions within CNI: Planning & Engineering, Materials Management, Construction, Drop Placement, Community Data Integrity, Facilities, Marketing

We know family and work life balance are important to you. You will based in British Columbia or Alberta where you will facilitate in-person sessions from your headquartered office, and you will also leverage teleconference technology to collaborate with others across the country.


You're the missing piece of the puzzle

Your background learning brings value to the role. We are looking for:
    •Bachelor degree or 5+ years of equivalent experience •Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and/or other related post-graduate education, designation or certification •2-3+ years of consulting experience and/or program management experience •2-3+ years of experience applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS), Agile or other process improvement methodologies


To succeed in your role, you will want to be skilled in:
    •Structured program management: Delivery of new capabilities in recognizable sprints or iterations which advanced a strategic roadmap of improvements, new opportunities and process fixes •Facilitation of large groups including tight interlock with senior leadership; this is best accomplished through being certified (or in progress toward) either or LSS Green Belt (external/non-TELUS certifications subject to evaluation) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree holder
