The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our Process and Mine Infrastructure Design team at our Vancouver, B.C. location.

Vancouver is Golder's west coast center for pipeline engineering and design practices. Qualified individuals must have strong engineering design, construction, procurement, and commissioning experience related to pipeline systems engineering, experience related to piping in the mining and oil & gas sectors, and tailings and mine water systems flow models. The successful candidate will be managing and engineering mining pipeline systems projects that typically include pump station design, relocation and protection of existing pipelines, routing of proposed pipelines, pipeline stress analysis, and pipe sizing.

A day in the life:

•Perform concept level through to detail engineering level studies for proposed pipeline systems or modifications to existing systems, along with their associated facilities
•Perform designs for both green fields and brown fields sites
•Provide engineering support to pipeline routing studies
•Prepare detailed engineering design of slurry, water, hazardous liquids, gas, and other pipeline systems projects
•Review pipeline friction loss calculations of junior and intermediate engineers
•Familiarity with trenchless crossing design (bore microtunnel, HDD, etc.) considered an asset
•Prepare detailed engineering of pipeline facilities including pig launchers, manifolds, relief systems, measurement systems, terminal piping systems, etc.
•Prepare and review pipeline stress calculations associated with station piping or transport piping design
•Participate in field / site walks, coordinate field investigation work for surveys, utility investigations, environmental delineations, geotechnical investigations, cathodic protection, etc. in support of the pipeline design effort
•Coordinate engineering and survey services in support of right of way acquisition needs on pipeline projects
•Prepare project funding documents such as cost estimates, equipment bid summaries and authorization requests
•Direct and review engineering design by junior and intermediate engineering staff and designers
•Provide field project coordination, engineering services, and troubleshooting with direct client interface
•Write or oversee technical reports, proposals, and other project documentation
•Manage mid-size projects and teams up to $50M in total installed cost.
•Contribute to projects with major focus in leadership in technical excellence or project management for larger or more complex projects
•Prepare proposals in response to client RFP's.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

•A minimum of 7 years of project engineering (project or engineering management)
•A minimum 5 years in the mining pipeline sector with both project engineering and design experience or operating company experience
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited academic institution
•Possess Professional Engineer accreditation in the province of British Columbia, or eligibility for Professional Engineering Certification in another Canadian province
•Knowledge of slurry rheology, friction loss calculations, and particle size distribution
•Experience with Business Development and Marketing of consulting services within the pipeline industry is a plus
•High degree of knowledge of industry-relevant codes and regulations
•Oil and Gas Pipeline operating company experience is a plus
•Understanding of Pipeline Hazardous Materials and Safety
•Project management experience or certifications
•MS Office competent - strong Excel skills preferred
•Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 scheduling experience preferred
•Solid organization and time management abilities
•Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude
•Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written
•High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic
•Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as dictated by project demands
