The Senior Operational Engineer, Lead will be responsible for driving and implementing DevOps and Release Management products, processes, and best practices to accelerate the continuous delivery of value to customers and amplify the feedback required to better anticipate failures and increase the quality and performance of applications and services.

This individual will be recognized as the expert in the areas of DevOps, Release Management, and System Engineering. This position will drive the technical research and development to enable continuous innovation and enhancement within the organization by establishing guidelines, best practices and methods for building, testing, deploying and operating new and existing applications and services.

What you\'ll be doing...
    • Develop, maintain, and analyze industry leading solutions, practices, and methods to ensure Bet Buy teams are equipped to build, test, deploy and operate applications • Own the release management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating, and the management of releases for the Best Buy Canada IT platforms • Provide best practices, processes, and release governance to help product development teams manage and deploy releases into all environments • Provide hands on experience with respective tools, practices, and technologies to peers and stakeholders • Work collaboratively with all participants in the software development teams as well as product managers, developers, designers, and testers


What you\'ll need to success:
    • 4+ years of previous release and project management experience • 4+ years of experience deploying and operating applications running in Cloud platforms • 7+ years of experience creating, implementing, and supporting applications for monitoring and reporting • 7+ years of experience with 24x7 operations and support of IT Systems • 7+ years of experience with version control systems Git, Subversion, TFSVC, Stash and other • 7+ years of experience supporting system developed by Oracle forms and Java • 5+ years of experience designing, monitoring, and supporting a large scale and highly available system • 5+ years of experience with automation and orchestral tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Ansible • 5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines • 5+ years of experience with containerized applications and/or microservices • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycles (Agile, Scrum) • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal • A demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams towards task completion
