WSP is seeking an Intermediate - Senior Marine Biologist to join our BC Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment team on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will serve as marine technical lead on large multi-disciplinary projects in BC and across Canada, overseeing marine-based monitoring and sampling programs, technical report preparation and delivery, and providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice to clients and regulators related to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), environmental management and mitigation strategies, and environmental effects monitoring studies. Responsibilities include proposal development, development of study design for marine-based monitoring programs, application of biological survey methods, advanced data analyses, and preparation of technical reports.
The candidate will also be responsible for preparing permits / regulatory approval applications and support documentation, and representing WSP's marine biology team at technical, regulatory agency and client meetings. The successful candidate will contribute to the coordinated development of business opportunities in the field of marine sciences with a focus on one or more of the following subjects: marine ecology, marine fisheries, and/or marine mammal sciences. This assignment will include establishing a strong rapport with the applicable regulatory agencies; developing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for marine-based field and desk-top studies; helping to identify and hire new staff and subcontractors as needed for project bids and carrying out existing project work; and providing mentoring and training to existing junior and intermediate staff.
