BCLC's two offices are located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples in Vancouver and the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc territory, situated within the Secwépemc Nation in Kamloops. This is an engaged, innovative, capable group of talented individuals working in digital enablement, product delivery services, technology platform enablement, enterprise services, integrity and operations. This enables us to execute the purchase and validation of lottery tickets at over 3500 lottery retailers, manage a complex network of 12,000 slot machines and electronic table games across the province and provide the backbone for BCLC's eGaming platform, and much more.
We have offices in Kamloops and Vancouver and can also support 100% remote (from within British Columbia) for this position.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security, the Senior Manager, Enterprise Security Architecture is responsible for defining BCLC's security architecture including the strategies and technologies necessary to protect BCLC's business and corporate assets and ensuring that the security architecture aligns with BCLC's enterprise architecture. The Senior Manager, Enterprise Security Architecture must build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with senior management throughout BCLC as well as with the lines of businesses and external stakeholders.

This position will play a key role in defining the future direction of technology and security at BCLC. Recommendations made by this position will define how BCLC interacts with its business partners, designs its networks, implements its interactions with customers and protects its business.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Leads the development and on-going maintenance of BCLC's information security strategy and is responsible for ensuring that it is aligned with business requirements and BCLC's technology roadmap. Establishes and maintains the information security target architecture through understanding business drivers and demonstrating expert knowledge and mastery in a broad spectrum of complex technologies.
  • Establishes effective, positive relationships with business units to ensure strategic alignment to business requirements and to develop buy-in, support and endorsement for the Cyber Security program. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to identify critical information security architectural and infrastructure gaps and deficiencies and to recommend solutions to solve business problems.
  • Oversees activities undertaken by functional architects and system engineers to meet BCLC's target security architecture and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the Cloud Security Architecture function. Provides leadership and coaching and models leadership behaviors that support engagement of teams by practicing meaningful recognition, inspiring a shared vision, coaching/mentoring and developing others, and supporting culture and change management initiatives.
  • Supports BCLC's business processes and requirements by determining the optimal information security architecture including the tools and technologies designed to protect BCLC's information and assets in an ever-changing threat landscape.
  • Lead the successful adoption of information security standards based on industry best practices and commensurate with the sensitivity and security requirements of BCLC systems. Is a key voice on high profile projects to ensure project solutions follow security architecture principles and roadmaps.
  • Researches and advocates for new technologies, architectures, best practices and security products that will help business success. Oversees the evaluation and selection of security-related hardware and software products and designs security configurations.
  • Develops and reports on key performance indicators, measures and dashboards of all cybersecurity controls across BCLC
  • Maintains good understanding of BCLC's key business systems and processes to support accountabilities listed above, and for consideration and input into Cybersecurity program.
  • Continuously develops sharp technical skills, quickly getting up to speed on new technology, trends, types of vulnerabilities, exploits and risks to BCLC's information assets.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • A degree in engineering, computer science, information security or equivalent in a related discipline;
  • SABSA Chartered Architect - Foundation Level (SCF) is desired;
  • Relevant technical certifications (CISSP, SANS GIAC, AWS/GCP) would be an asset;
  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in enterprise security engineering or architecture, ideally within a large organization in the area of Enterprise Security Architecture or Risk Management;
  • Experience with security tools, such as SIEM, file integrity monitoring and database monitoring;
  • Experience performing threat modeling and design reviews to assess security implications and requirements for introduction of new technologies;
  • Experience with one of more of the following security architecture standards is preferred: SABSA, TOGAF, NIST;
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
  • Broad knowledge of different security domains i.e., IAM, Cloud Security (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), Data Security (e.g., DLP), Security Operations, Software Development Security, Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, and Communications and Network Security (e.g., firewall, NACL, Network Segmentation);
  • Familiar with the Zero Trust security approach;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and recommend security solutions to meet business objectives;
  • Ability to articulate complex topics effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders both written and orally;
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize items;
  • Excellent innovation in problem solving and analytical thinking;
  • General business acumen;
  • Proven ability to deal with sensitive matters with a high degree of tact and diplomacy;
  • Excellent ability to manage relationships at all levels with customers, leaders, contractors and team members to effect change;
  • Familiarity with the gaming entertainment environment is preferred.
