Job Description Summary

The Senior Business Analyst, R&D Operations, will be focused on improving and optimizing the processes around Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Specific responsibility will be on the creation, implementation, and maintenance of well-defined, documented and robust "Concept-to-Retire" (C2R) business processes. These involve the design and development, technical transfer to production, and the subsequent support for and changes to, products developed and marketed by STEMCELL. The overall goal is to improve the creation and management of STEMCELL's product data (esp. specifications and recipes), through the development and implementation of holistic business process improvements.

An ideal candidate is a business analyst with a strong understanding of product lifecycle management and data governance principles in a life science setting, and has experience with enterprise PLM/ERP system implementation projects. Close collaboration is required with stakeholders in the business and Information Systems (IS) teams, having various perspectives and objectives.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with stakeholders in the various business units across C2R to elicit business requirements, analyze information and data, and draw meaningful business insights.
  • Define and develop performance metrics for the evaluation of C2R business processes for efficiency, cost, and other relevant metrics to identify indicators for improvement opportunities.
  • Initiate benchmarking of C2R processes at STEMCELL with comparative industries; develop recommendations for process improvements and measures of success.
  • Lead strategic business analysis efforts and activities of the C2R processes, working in collaboration with cross-functional teams and departments. Organize and facilitate cross-functional meetings.
  • Consult with senior leaders and stakeholders to elicit and define business requirements and rules, analyze current / future processes and workflows and produce detailed documentation for improved business systems and processes. Understand, influence and manage changes to meet the business goals.
  • Plan, perform and implement C2R/PLM improvement initiatives.
  • Design and maintain relevant business datasets, including troubleshooting potential issues.
  • Prepare reports which effectively communicate their findings to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations by developing an effective communication process to keep stakeholders up-to-date on results.
  • Streamline and improve internal and external reporting as needed.
  • Provide training on business analysis needs, deliverables and approaches for complex projects involving strategic business / operating initiatives.
  • Contribute to business analysis best practices, processes, tools, templates and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to short and long-term planning sessions as required.
  • Prepare business cases for strategic and tactical opportunities.
  • Other duties as required by the business.


Qualifications:
  • BS degree with 10+ years experience as a Business Analyst in Life Sciences industry, or equivalent
  • Proven experience with ERP/PLM implementations an asset (especially SAP)
  • Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle Management
  • Strong project management skills, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, strong relationship building skills
  • Innovative and strategic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to collect and summarize meeting minutes effectively
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and ability to work in an autonomous environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with the ability to strategically partner cross-functionally to advance strategic direction of the business
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; communicates in a clear, concise and organized manner; listens to others to obtain information
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite
