Term/Status: Permanent Full Time
Schedule/Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30-15:00 // 37.5 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $28.46 - $31.57 as per collective agreement 

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support professional to provide individualized support to a young adult man with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The successful candidate will have experience supporting individuals with complex communication, sensory, and behavioural support needs and will be committed to promoting dignity, choice, inclusion, and quality of life. This role requires a highly engaged, attentive, and proactive support worker who is comfortable maintaining consistent engagement, supervision, and responsiveness throughout the shift to support the individual's communication, safety, emotional regulation, and participation in daily community activities.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in an area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities, such as Social Services, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or a related discipline.
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or related complex support needs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with adaptive communication systems, including PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), visual supports, and other augmentative communication strategies
• Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support practices and behaviour support plans.
• Experience with data collection, integration, and documentation related to behaviour support and individualized service planning.
• Experience supporting individuals with significant sensory processing needs and implementing sensory regulation strategies.
• Familiarity with Assistive Technology used to support communication, independence, and community participation.
• Experience supporting non-verbal individuals and interpreting non-verbal communication and behavioural cues.
• Ability to independently assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and respond proactively to changing needs.
• Strong observation, patience, and problem-solving skills in dynamic environments.
• Understanding of sensory processing differences and the implementation of sensory regulation strategies.
• Ability to recognize and respond to changing support needs while promoting safety, communication, and meaningful participation.
• Commitment to person-centered practices that promote dignity, inclusion, choice, and quality of life.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance (must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs)
• TB Test Clearance
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Valid First Aid/CPR upon start date
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada
