Position Information

Location Hybrid / Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
$71,846 - $115,129 annually. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
The Opportunity
The Disability and Community Studies Department in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies is hiring a regular part time probationary faculty member to begin January 2026. The primary place of work will be the Coquitlam Campus.

WHAT IT TAKES

    • The successful candidate will have a Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in Education or related field with an emphasis on inclusive education and/or disability studies.
    • A valid BC Teacher's Certificate and experience in the K-12 system is preferred.
    • Experience in teaching applied knowledge and skills to post-secondary students an asset.
    • Preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

      • inclusive education and structural supports
      • teaching BC's Curriculum, with a focus on applying Universal Design for Learning
      • transitional supports, including pre-K and K-12
      • social/emotional learning and associated practices
      • wholistic trauma-sensitive practices to support children and youth
      • literacy, numeracy and learning in early, middle, late years
      • knowledge of supporting communication and behaviour, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication
      • roles and responsibilities of education assistants
      • interpersonal communication skills and workplace culture


    • Excellent communication & time management skills
    • Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.
    • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Additional Information
The Department of Disability and Community Studies has three related programs (Inclusive Education and Disability Studies, Education Assistance & Inclusion, & Disability and Applied Behaviour Analysis) that prepare reflective practitioners to support the education and self-determination of children, youth and adults who have disabilities. Instructors in the department typically teach a range of academic and practicum courses.

This position requires a faculty member to teach in the Education Assistance & Inclusion Certificate.
