A purchasing specialist is required to join an established mechanical engineering company in Port Coquitlam

Your new company
A well established mechanical engineering company with over 20 years in the industry. They are known for major construction projects to regular service work to the safety provided by our fire protection division. They have a great office culture and are aggressively growing.

Your new role
As a purchasing specialist you will report into the purchasing lead day to day, you will be responsible for the below duties:

  • Review requisition orders for material and coding accuracy
  • Source and obtain price quotations from suppliers and prepare purchase orders
  • Contact suppliers to ensure product availability, schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems
  • Prepare, analyze and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists
  • Review cost of orders and charge invoices to appropriate accounts
  • Ongoing vendor management
  • Monitor site returns and special buys
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of products used throughout the company's divisions through activities such as studying catalogues, industry and company publications
  • Negotiate job contract pricing within estimated budget
  • Review invoices for pricing and purchase order accuracy
  • Flag pricing discrepancies and resolve with wholesalers

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for the purchasing specialist role you will come from a mechanical engineering industry.
Some post-secondary education in supply chain management or business administration is preferred · Preference given to candidates with SMT training Experience and other assets, 2 years experience in a Purchasing environment is essential. Construction industry experience is essential (mechanical trade focus is an asset). Experience with Jonas Construction software is an asset
