Job Description Production Supervisor

Responsibilities:
• Manages the production workforce, through Team Leads, in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with company guidelines, procedures, and applicable legislation • Acts as the Constraint Buffer Manager and ensures that resources feeding the buffers execute their schedules to maintain the integrity of the buffer profiles • Responds to deep buffer penetrations and mobilizes the workforce to ensure timely delivery to the buffers • Ensures that the Capacity Constrained Resource executes the schedule efficiently and effectively • Manages the Team Leads to ensure that product and information flows appropriately through the production process • Deploys manpower on a daily and weekly basis in order to achieve required production volumes • Supervises production operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, production standards and effective operations of equipment • Works with multiple departments to review, coordinate, and approve schedules and departmental maintenance activities • Recommends alternative standard operational and working practices as necessary and monitors direct reports to ensure compliance with current standards • Makes decisions relating to production issues using technical knowledge and professional experience • Leads meetings and communicates guidelines, procedures, and other information • Checks machines and systems to ensure production targets are met • Takes appropriate actions to correct employees' performance and/or behavior • Provides regular updates on production to the Production Manager and VP of Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain • Resolves issues relating to production as a result of other manufacturing factors • Prepares production and progress reports • Escalates significant problems to the Production Manager and presents solutions based on an assessment of data and relevant information • Coordinates shift activities with other production supervisors to increase continuity of operations
• Ensures production of quality products that meet corporate standards • Assesses production procedures and initiates quality improvements • Participates and contributes to corrective action processes, if they arise
• Creates/completes Work Orders within the ERP and manufacturing systems • Interviews and recommends candidates for employment • Coaches and develops the team to high performance while fostering a culture of team ownership • Evaluates staff performance and provides constructive, effective feedback • Ensures all employees are properly trained in health & safety policy/procedures and the duties and responsibilities of their role • Enrolls employees in ADP time & attendance system; review and approve hours worked and process vacation requests • Addresses and resolves personnel issues and concerns, through coaching, counselling and performance management in conjunction with the HR department and the Production Manager • Keeps the company's budget in mind when making production related decisions Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:
• Post-secondary courses in Supervision and Leadership preferred • 3-5 years supervisory experience in an electronics manufacturing facility • Experience and/or education in lean manufacturing or six sigma an asset • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills • Demonstrated knowledge of an electronics environment • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem solving skills • Knowledge and experience with ERP system • Strong working knowledge of various computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) • Ability to multi-task and juggle priorities along with strong organizational skills • Time management skills; able to set priorities, handle deadlines, and contingency planning Perks & Benefits:
