Overview

Do you have an interest in leading digital initiatives in a strategic role? Are you passionate about organizational health, safety and wellness? Under direction of the Senior Manager Business Product Management, the People & Culture Product Owner will provide subject matter leadership to support the business ownership of our enterprise Employee Health, Safety & Wellness and Corporate Security and Emergency Management (EHSW and CSEM) products, including SaaS systems, custom-built solutions, interfaces, and related People & Culture data. You will act as the liaison between the business and technology to lead initiatives that strengthen WorkSafeBC's health and safety capabilities, with an initial primary focus on implementing a net new EHSW system and partnering closely with the vendor and EHSW/CSEM business teams.

You have a strong understanding of end-to-end EHSW and CSEM business processes, risk and compliance considerations, data, and systems, and you can lead and coordinate complex initiatives from planning through implementation. You are comfortable driving system change, supporting business readiness, and ensuring solutions align with operational health and safety needs. In this role, you'll build and maintain excellent relationships internally and externally at all levels of the organization, partnering closely with key stakeholders while ensuring that confidential and sensitive management information related to WorkSafeBC's operations are handled with discretion and tact.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond office, with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

What you'll do
  • Serve as the lead resource for EHSW and CSEM digital initiatives, with a focus on strengthening organizational health and safety processes, systems, data, and

  • Lead and coordinate projects from planning through implementation, including requirements gathering, work planning, stakeholder alignment, risk tracking, and
  • milestone management
  • Gather and document critical business and technical requirements while considering multiple perspectives and making recommendations through research and analysis
  • Work with vendors, I&T resources, and implementation partners to design, configure, test, and implement EHSW and CSEM systems and interfaces
  • Support prioritization of enhancements and initiatives by balancing operational needs, health and safety objectives, and overall P&C systems roadmap considerations
  • Develop clear communications, training materials, and presentations for a range of audiences, including employees, business partners, and senior leadership
  • Build strong working relationships across business and technology teams, using a service-oriented approach to support collaboration, issue resolution, and change

  • Provide ongoing monitoring and assurance that EHSW and CSEM products continue to deliver business value and support evolving organizational needs

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Encourage and lead change and improvement through creative problem-solving and strategic thinking
  • Identify trends, risks, problems, and opportunities in relation to EHSW and CSEM business processes, systems, and services
  • Lead projects from inception to completion, monitoring progress, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Recommend future processes and system integration aligned to departmental and divisional vision and strategies
  • Identify health and safety risks, control measures, and regulatory considerations and translate them into practical business and system requirements
  • Organize priorities, processes, responsibilities, stakeholders, related systems, and tools in a structured and effective way
  • Communicate complex information clearly and confidently through strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Lead the configuration and implementation of systems and tools
  • Lead the monitoring and updating of system performance and value-added services
  • Facilitate the quality assurance of system processes and data
  • Inform organizational and program-specific health and safety practices

Your background and experience
  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience in health and safety systems, people technology, business analysis, project delivery, or a related leadership
  • capacity
  • Strong understanding of organizational health and safety and/or corporate security business processes
  • Previous experience implementing a SaaS solution
  • Project management experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively are preferred
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills are preferred
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Product Manager (CPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or a related certification is an asset

We'll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $119,091 - $144,695/annually
