As a Medical Lab Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the provision of high quality care services for the TELUS Health Family Health, Executive, and Travel Health Programs. At TELUS Health, our clinical staff members work very closely together as a interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for our clients. As part of the team, you'll be a key contact person for clients, physicians, staff, suppliers and guests, this team member is the voice and face of the company in many instances. The Medical Lab Technician presents a professional image at all times, and although the position involves considerable multi-tasking, ensures a pleasant and courteous expereince for all our patients. You'll be responsible for all areas related to Laboratory:
•Performs tests and diagnostic examinations on patients including but not limited to phlebotomy, urine collection, processing and accessioning; tonometry, audiograms, visual acuity,;shipping and analysis of samples
•May require conducting resting ECG's and spirometry-based pulmonary tests
•Conducts 24hr blood pressure testing when required
•Maintains all diagnostic equipment and liaise with medical equipment suppliers as required, and notifies manager when equipment needs to be serviced or replaced
•Documents diagnostic results in the chart and enters results manually as required
•Maintains supply of sterile instruments for use in procedures by monitoring use and cleaning, packing and autoclaving as needed
•Researches supplies required by the clinic staff; assesses quality, price and sources different suppliers when available
•Facilitates Holter Monitoring (Vancouver Clinic)
•Access and manage the QA of lab processes
•Collaborates with medical, kinesiology and dietitian staff for thorough understanding of their specific needs
•Collaborates with receptionists and MOA staff in regards to client bookings, etc
•Interacts with testing laboratories as required
•Ordering supplies as needed
•Provides support to other staff as assigned Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Minimum 2 years of practical work experience in phlebotomy and performing ECG's;
•Basic knowledge of desktop computer systems and Microsoft Office
•Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificatio
•Exceptional organizational and customer service skills
•Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate as asset A bit about us
