    The Role:

    We are looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our growing Accounting Team. This is a great opportunity for a person who has experience in operational financial activities including Canadian, US and United Kingdom payroll processing and maintenance, high analytical abilities, a willingness to learn, and great interpersonal skills to work in a team that is supporting a fast growing business.

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Processing full-cycle payroll for 430+ Canadian, US and UK employees on a timely basis
    • Reconciling monthly invoices and balancing statements for benefits and other employee programs for Canadian and US employees
    • Processing sales incentives payouts, company bonuses, and other special payments
    • Preparing records of employment for employee departures and terminations on a timely basis
    • Processing employee expense claims and ensuring they are authorized, within budget and coded correctly with assistance from Accounts Payable Clerk
    • Processing sales incentives payouts, company bonuses, and other special payments
    • Tracking and processing employee expense claims including training expenses
    • Preparing annual T-4 statements, UK P60 and US W2 payroll returns and other government returns for review
    • Processing payroll reconciliations and journal entries on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
    • Ensuring interpretation of requirements imposed through legislation and company policies are implemented and adhered to appropriately
    • Preparing all payroll journal entries, taking into consideration account coding and classification of employees
    • Acting as a resource and resolving payroll inquiries from employees and managers
    • Researching applicable tax treatment of benefits in Canadian, US federal and state, and UK jurisdictions
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all payroll information and documents at all times
    • Understanding current payroll legislation and requirements and keeping informed of any pending changes
    • Ensuring government reporting and remittance requirements are met
    • Assisting in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of operating procedures for all payroll processes
    • Assisting in ad hoc departmental projects such as SR&ED time reporting


    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 years of applicable payroll experience with comprehensive knowledge of Canadian and US payroll regulations; experience in UK payroll is an asset
    • A diploma or degree in business administration or related field, with some Accounting courses; Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager designation preferred
    • Experience in performing analytics and financial reporting of payroll is an asset
    • Experience in research over taxable benefits in Canadian, US federal and state, and UK jurisdictions
    • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
    • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
    • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and time-manage
    • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment
    • Familiarity with the Salesforce CRM system, Payworks, GTM and ADP payroll systems and the BambooHR human resources system is an asset
