We are looking for a part time Traffic Anchor.

Are you looking for a chance to get your on-air start in one of the most beautiful cities on Earth, helping commuters get to where they need to go in a fast changing environment? If you've always dreamed of checking traffic and weather every 10 minutes on the 1's, this position is for you!

What you will do...
  • Collaborate with team members and the editorial team to craft concise and accurate traffic reports for CityNews 1130
  • Manage incoming tips by phone, email, and social media, and use your skills to verify them and let people know about the content of the tip
  • Utilize social media to drive attention to the traffic product on all platforms
  • Help the editorial team by finding news angles to traffic items and passing along useful tips.

  • A passion not just for speaking, but for storytelling
  • A sense of major traffic routes around Metro Vancouver, how they interconnect, and what challenges drivers face on the roads
  • Curiosity and a desire to push beyond the surface and challenge conceptions of the status quo
  • A willingness to put the team first, and be able to work in service of a larger goal
  • News moves fast! You must be able to multi-task and deliver for multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines
  • Because news never stops - a willingness to work evenings and weekend
