Union - CUPE Local 402 - Temporary Full-Time Scope
Reporting to Parks Facility Operations Manager, the Parks Equipment Operator 1 is primarily responsible for driving, operating and light servicing of a tractor mounted 7-gang mower, equipped to efficiently cut large active and passive turf grass areas. Addition duties may include operating a tractor equipped with various attachments related to the maintenance and renovation of turf grass sports fields. The operator is expected to keep a diary of work completed in a notebook. Responsibilities
Typical duties may include: detailed equipment pre-check, equipment lubrication, reel to bed knife adjustments and other miscellaneous adjustments, as well as simple trouble shooting of equipment malfunction. Qualifications
The successful candidate will have effective communication skills, exercise independence of judgement and initiative while performing the duties of the role. He or she will be expected to communicate with park patrons from time to time in a friendly and courteous manner, as well as communicate effectively with other turf team staff on changing field conditions, by reporting asset deficiencies in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will have:
• Completion of Grade 12. • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License with safe driving record. • Occupational First Aid - Level 1 or acceptable equivalent. • Equipment operation experience related to maintenance of sports fields. • Parks maintenance related experience. Conditions of Employment
