In accordance with established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of the Manager or designate, the Nursing Unit Assistant supports designated units by delivering in-person education for the implementation of Safer Care. This role functions as part of the Safer Care Implementation Team (SCIT). The Nursing Unit Assistant offers clinical support before, during, and after Safer Care activation in all acute facilities. The Nursing Unit Assistant actively engages in learning sessions for workflow reviews, skill enhancement, and associated practice changes through formal and informal sessions. The Clinical Transformation Nursing Unit Assistant attends Safer Care Readiness meetings and shares resources and updates with clinical teams. This position assists acute care teams in preparing for the upcoming go-live of Safer Care by providing clinician support, tracking common issues, escalating problems, offering workload support, and supporting issue resolution and system troubleshooting for frontline clinicians and clinical leaders alongside the Safer Care team. This position involves collaborative efforts with clinical teams and leadership, serving as a knowledgeable guide to provide insights on new features or modifications to existing program workflows.
The Nursing Unit Assistant, Clinical Transformation will also perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient care area, such as acting as a communication link for the Unit, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient appointments, receiving and directing visitors, answering telephones, and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities. Travel may be a requirement of this position.
Nursing Unit Clerk certification is required for this position.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Days - 08:00 to 16:00
Ksyen Regional Hospital
The new Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients on November 24, 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, the facility features 82 beds, private rooms, and is a centre for trauma services, orthopedic surgeries, pathology, radiology, clinical support, and pharmacy services. The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program.
Terrace The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. There are nine elementary schools, four secondary schools, and Northwest Community College and a UNBC campus. Check out Terrace where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Assistant program plus one (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to keyboard 50 w.p.m.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
