This is a 4 month internship with 40 hours a week

Our Network team is one of the main driving forces for all Best Buy Canada. We build world class infrastructure for all Best Buy Canada and work to improve our infrastructure on a continuous basis. Our goal is to be the best Network team in Canada and to get there we need you. Come take this journey with us and be part of projects and operations which supports our entire organization.

The Network / Telecom Intern is responsible for for the availability and performance of data and voice networks for Best Buy Canada. This includes the corporate campus, regional offices, distribution centers, and our retail stores. Working closely with team members and lead, the role provides day to day operations support as well as strategic proactive planning.

As a Network / Telecom Intern you will...

For Data Centre & Voice Network Management & Support
    • Participates in the installation of network infrastructure • Works closely with vendors, outsourced service providers and BBY Enterprise on new technologies to optimize IT environment.

For Voice Network Operations
    • Supports Day to day operations responsibilities • Maintains and supports optimization of all network hardware, software and communication links across our enterprise • Plans, communicates and coordinates changes within the environment • Creates and updates environment documentation and diagrams

Experience in these keys areas would be an asset
    • Switching • Routing • Firewalling • DNS • DHCP • Load Balancing • Call manager • Phone setups • Monitoring (many flavors of tools example (solarwinds, intermapper, plixer etc..)) • Cabling • Documentation using Visio or Word • New Tech proof of concept (participation) • Build and design work (architectural) • Operational ticket remediation and ITIL (participation)
