Reporting to the Director of Business Partner Services, this position leads and is accountable for the design, development and implementation of the Key Business Units' process and IT changes. May support BC Hydro-wide projects as required. Responsible for the ongoing sustainment of all Key Business Units' specific IT systems. Manages departmental budget of capital and OMA.

Key Business Unit clients include (this list may change over time): Customer Service, Conversation and Energy Management, and the Office of Ethics and Merit.

Provides leadership and direction to the Business Partner Services for Customer Service and Conservation Teams.

Provides Key Business Units (KBU's) IT consulting services by: * Understanding the specific business context, operational needs, and business objectives of their accounts, identifying, justifying, prioritizing (both at the business level and enterprise level) and initiating the delivery of IT capabilities to meet business needs;

* Advocating for the business, leading change and promoting the adoption of consistent IT business solutions across the organization;

* Advocating for IT opportunities, process improvements, standards and constraints by establishing a shared understanding with the business;

* Supporting enterprise business process improvements across their KBU's;

* Representing the business, and supporting the development and the annual refresh of the BC Hydro Technology Strategy and 5-Year Plan (including technology roadmap development, project valuation, risks mitigation, prioritization assessment, and high-level implementation costs and

schedule estimation); and,

* Representing, supporting and facilitating strategic and tactical program level planning (including KBU prioritization, demand management, resourcing scheduling, high-level business analysis, business case development / review / support / approvals, opportunity identification, and change management support), and business value realization.

Manages and controls the relationship management practices consistent with enterprise standards for their accounts across organizational units; establishes dashboard and KPIs, and identifies key areas of focus for their respective business accounts; and, manages and resolves Business-IT relationship problems and issues.

Represents and engages appropriate IT expertise through the service delivery lifecycle, including the facilitation of projects through ITDSP. Oversees the coordination and alignment of activities across the IT service delivery lifecycle by providing input, feedback, and liaison to internal and external delivery and user support teams. Participates in working groups, steering committees, and other project committees as required.

Manages communications to the highest standard within the company and within Technology, and with stakeholder groups, regulators, and industry peers. Evangelizes the benefits of technology and process innovation within an enterprise environment.


* Business process improvement, change management, project management, strategic thinking and analytical knowledge and skills are typically acquired through completion of a university degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or Information Technology.

* Demonstrated leadership and advanced management training coupled with an advanced degree (MBA) or equivalent.

* Ten years or more of progressively more responsible financial, management control, policy and strategy development responsibilities involving large groups and budgets.

* Demonstrated leading edge knowledge of innovative business operations management practices. Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor reporting staff. Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Well developed planning, organizational and team leadership skills.

* Large corporate experience, utility or public service experience would be an asset.

In addition to the above specified duties and qualifications, the ideal candidate will have: * A strong understanding of business management and the role of Technology within BC Hydro;

* A strong business acumen and ability to work with clients to envision IT solutions that address specific business challenges;

* A demonstrated ability to discuss, analyze and provide professional IT services advice. Strong understanding of both technology and business perspectives to help technical and non-technical stakeholders develop a shared understanding of the technology, functional and process changes needed to deliver a highly usable and effective solution;

* Demonstrated relationship management skills including strong oral, written and presentation communications, interpersonal skills;

* Exceptional communication, facilitation, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to proactively engage and influence multiple stakeholder groups;

* Familiarity with business process analysis, project management, vendor management, and problem solving, and decision-making methods;

* Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles, software development lifecycles (SDLC), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and IT project management methodologies, processes and tools in a utility or industrial/operational environment; and,

* Well-developed planning, organizing, teamwork and leadership skills.
